I reckon i'll get it to 40 MPG on my regular drive to work! And before anyone asks, yes i do drive it like a fairy!

yes i got just over 40 mpg the other day over 20 miles taking it easy with 350 miles on clock, that was 45-60 mph it seems its a bit more frugal than my ed30 from memory but as expected not as many mpg than my mk6 gti.

Dont see the point if you own ed35 why not by hybrid  :grin:

Very funny!!! If i save a little during the dull drive to work then I feel less guilty when I give it some at the weekend!

I couldn't go much faster dark country roads and raining, just checking out all aspects of what the car is capable of, can't speed and don't speed that much theirs a time and place.

GTIs are about a blend of talents, thus fuel economy is reasonably important. Those that don't care about such things buy either R32s if they need something small or RS3s it they're rich and need something small, or just buy a proper performance car in the first place.

Even us R owners can manage 40mpg (only just though)  :wink:

A steady 58mph on the motorway over 21 miles can get this :-



Overall I'm getting 27mpg though, so not quite as good as a GTi

The AWD transmission losses have always affected mpg - you can feel the car slowing as soon as you lift off.

27MPG is a million time better than what MK4/5 R owners got ;)
