you should be able to fix that dude. Doesn't look too bad. You'll need to do some serious haggling with your insurance though else they'll give you peanuts for it!

I'm getting prepared now ....

From the point of view of using whatever cash/ payment I have to replace her looking in the local papers and trader etc there's nothing close to her in terms of mileage and condition at all. There's a few nice example but still well over 110k on the clock and not 90 spec / Digifant

Even the stuff sold by the likes of Volkwizard cost over 2.5k and some have 138k on the clock FFS !

I fully except there's only so much arguing possible, but surely they must take on board that given the current market it'll cost more than a lame grand to replace her ??? On my policy it states the car is worth 'Market Value', hopefully this will give me an angle to work ....

Also I'm a bit concerned about the mods as I didn't declare the backbox or Suspension - silly I know but I just never got round to sorting it. It's only lowered 40mm and I've adjusted the suspension back to soft. Anyone had any experience - I'm guessing all I can hope is because a 3rd party are doing the assessment they don't report it ??

you gonna get turned over on the cash. they set the value - not you. if you feel you have it in you to sue an insurance company whose wealth is measured in £bns then have a go. Most of the country will be behind you.

also, are you claiming on your insurance or the other party? if this was the other party's accident and their insurance company is paying out then the mods shouldn't make any difference. your policy and what you've told your insurance company is none of their business.

however, if it is your insurance - then you need to keep your trap tightly shut. an insurance company will invalidate your insurance the moment the get a whiff.

personally, i'd keep my trap shut regardless about the mods. playing thick and stupid never harmed anyone - you bought the car like it. keep the assessor looking at the front of the car, thats what hes come to look at.

^^^^^^^^^^Good advice, keep your trap shut, act dumb and say you bought the car like that and thought it was standard IF asked.

You're not going to get anywhere near the pre-accident resale value I'm afraid  Thats why its worth looking into agreed value policies...........easy to say with hindsight I know :lipsrsealed: Even they aren't bullet proof from what I have seen from other peoples experiences, but you will get better than 'market' value. Personally I think you would be better to agree as high a figure as you can get and then try and buy the car back.........even if you don't want to repair the car, I'm sure there are plenty of members here that would be keen to buy it off you, for more than you will pay to buy it back, and repair the car themselves  Be a shame to see such a well maintained and looked after vehicle be stripped and scrapped

Cheers for the replies lads and if I can get her fixed at a sensible price I will, so hold off the PM's for parts you scavengers !!

As for the mods they're all subtle and not damaged or close to the area they need to investigate, so fingers crossed and cheers for the input :)

I didn't mention befor,e but I was driving my missus car on Sunday (all fully insured with her present too) and someone went in to the back of that! That's already being sorted as it's an easier claim as he's admitted liabilty to his insurance company and ended up with just a new rear bumper.

I've had sooo many people give me the old 'things happen in threes' story I'm just very edgy - the last thing I need is for them to void the policy and then god knows what !
