I little twit in a trev'd up e30 BMW hit me on Thursday. I was pulling out of a junction and he was speeding; I had fecking miles to pull out and was pretty much on my side of the road. He thought I was blocking his lane to make him stop, so went on the wrong side of the road to go round me and BANG! Here's the damage ^

She's off for an investigation on Tuesday - Engine still runs and the fecking headlights still work too! Dam Germans for you ;)

Pending the report I might look in to buying back etc and repairs but more than likely I'll write it off and i'll do my best to reclaim what costs I can by buying it back - providing they give me a sensible price and don't want mega bucks to buy it back.

Has anyone any experience of hangling over the price of a MK2 in an insurance claim ?

My car was mint - even better than anyone who saw it last year at the shows. It only had 90k on the clock FFS !!

I'm not after silly money but looking in the trader and people like Voolkswizard I'd have to spend at least 2 - 2.5 k to replace her. Can anyone thing of any other specialists I can look at for helping with a market valuation ?

Also, if she is gonna be broken watch this space for plenty of bits for sale !!

The only thing I'm concerned about it the fact the inner wing on the drivers side is bent under the airbox.

If I get it fixed I want it to be a proper job too - so i'll wait for a copy of the engineer's report ... fingers crossed !!

Gutted for you David that was one sweet silver mk2, as veedub says there aren't enough silver mk2's about you gotta save it. I would say it definately looks repairable as the outer wings don't look too damaged so inner wing damage will probably be minimal. Good luck haggling with the insurance company but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. I wrote my last valver off about 20months ago, I paid £3k for it 9months earlier, after the insurance deducted my excess I was left with £950!!!
I argued with them that their valuation wasn't accurate but their reply was basically "scr*w you sucker" I have an agreed valuation policy on the current one just to be sure.

Hope you get it sorted.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

Had my mk2 16v written off, they don't care if its mint really cos they go off book value... you'll be lucky to get over 1k for her but as they did with me, they'll prob give you your car back for free.

I feel for you, having your pride and joy recked is gutting... brings back painful memories

P.S. My payout was £850... insulting really, and that was after a week of haggling against their first offer of £500...

that looked like mine 1 year ago when someone pulled out infront of me

gutted mate. yours looked soo crisp

the plus side is that everything is bolted apart from the inner wings. the downside is that colour matching original paint can be hard

hate to say this but thats deffo a right off :lipsrsealed:
