yet go off and do our own things so we're not in each other's pockets.

You've hit the nail on the head there mate, I think that is the main reason we've been together for 15 years now (jeez is it really that long?!)

+1, me and my exgf were reall close, but if we went out on nights out togeather we would only spend about 30% of the time togeather (her best mates are really good mates with me and vice versa and her mates know my mates so it ended up with every one being mates) and we would always make time for each other but neither of us was botherd if the other wanted to go out with mates instead  think that was the reason our relationship was so good

Was due to get married next year.. Went out to Oman last Jan and fell in love with someone else.. Realised that the house I had, the dog, the partner.. I was living a lie getting married..

When I got home we argued a lot, had two options.. See it out or split up.. I knew things weren't right and called it a day..

I am now with a girl who I believe is the one, I didn't used to believe it.. I didn't ever think you could just click with one person.. But me and Nikki just seem to fit.

I can do everything a single man can do, I have a house, a decent car.. Just bought a motorbike, I still go out on the piss with the lads, I can go on holidays with the lads if i want.. Yet aslong as I strike that balance with her, so I treat her how she deserves, then it will work.

Being in the military means you spend a lot of time apart, my ex really started to struggle with me coming to Afghanistan, to the point where she would break down on the phone on my last tour. I knew from this moment that it wasn't going to work. As bad as this sounds, the military is my life.. I love what it brings to me..I love what I have become because of it..

Its good to be single but deep down I always wanted to meet a decent girl and not the usual scratter I would pull when i was on the lash with my mates.  I didnt really have any respect for women when I was out & single, Then I met my gf & I knew I wanted to be with her. she was differnt and now live together everything is great until we attempt flat pack, then we wana stab each other with flat headed screwdriver.

You have to have a balance, mates/gf/work etc. Danielle has made me a happy guy and looked after me well!

I want for nothing.. Someone else pays my rent, I have a bunch of mates of whom I can be anywhere in the UK and be able to go on the piss, I have a beautiful missus who appreciates my job because she too is in the military.. I go back to Swansea to see my friends and have no quibble from her because she appreciates being away from friends herself..

I think that theres so much other stuff you have to do as a single person, sometimes creating a character that you can't sustain.. The party animal.. The fashion concious... The guy whos forever playing with his car...

When i see Sgts and Flight Sgts who have done 20 years and have no end product for their money then I realise that yes I do have a house.. If ever the tenant pulls out I have the funds to pay for the house each month..

The house is in my name, the mortgage is paid by me.. I think I can say its mine...

That's the way it should be. Mine would go mad if she didn't get 100% attention.
