Did an engine change on my Beetle years ago.  Drove off for a test drive, then stopped a mile or so down the road wondering why the rear felt a bit 'wobbly' when I realised I had only loosely fitted the wheel bolts back on by hand.

Ok, so ill join in, I was only going to read and laugh, but here goes.. Did a 1.3 to 2.016v conversion last year, no probs, no faults, well chuffed. Went out 4 a test drive and heard a funny grinding sound.. went back home, looked underneath and saw the disk backplates all bent into the disks. I prised them out, levering against the disk with a screwdriver (which returned the pistons + pads also) reversed slowly back off driveway without pumping brakes back out, went to stop at the end, pedal went to floor and car rolled back into a house crunching freshly painted back bumper and badge panel. Novice error. Can teach myself to do a full engine conversion + associated work, but 4got to pump brakes back out!!

Done a headgasket on my mk2, took head off with manifolds attached but when it came to put it back together i had to take the head outside and put that on and then the manifolds because i had no one to help me lift it.
Was chuffed that after a few hours it was on and ready to test fire without the downpipe attached.
Cleaned up, put tools away and went to wash my hands and saw the nice shiny new exhaust manifold gaskets on the kitchen side next to the old ones.
