So I put gearbox oil in the plastic cap that looks like the filler hole!

As said I have stupidly put a litre of oil in this hole... only to find out later that this actually isn't the where to fill up the gearbox!
Two things... Am I going to get massive clutch problems now??? and would this be why all the oil came pouring out the bottom of the car, or do I have a leak somewhere??

You will most likey have clutch issue, that hole is for the timing. It is also why the oil came out too!!  :undecided:

thats not too bad then.. I would much rather buy and new clutch than have to get a new gearbox fitted, thank you :D im more happy now lol

id prob dose a load of carb /brake cleaner down there and hope for the best

next time the gearoil goes inside the gearbox not the bellhousing  :wink:

Classic. Did you not wonder why your gearbox filler cap was a. plastic and b. had a hole in it  :lipsrsealed:

You may get lucky with the clutch but it will not have done it much good.

I did wonder this yes.. but the picture in the haynes manual isnt the greatest of help and from what I could gather from that, I was putting it in the right place..   :huh:

oh well I have no learnt my lesson :D

I cant help but  :laugh:  Sorry.


Closest I've come to this was an emergency oil change many years ago, so stressed and tired I forgot to put the sump bolt back in and filled the engine back up with oil.. Obviously all of it ended up draining straight back out again on to the floor!  :rolleyes:
