« on: 09 June 2011, 17:53 »
i need a new air box as mine was butchered when i got it and the muppet actually drilled holes in the top of the airbox as well as the bottom :S

so im gonna upgrade the filter too... i have used pipercross panel filters in the past and have always been good, anyone else got any suggestions? i've always though k&n was just a name to sell cheap rubbish under...

i had a k&n induction kit on my bravo 1.6 and it just did nothing... so then i ran a pipercross filter in the standard airbox and it seemed to run infinitely better

As above. If 16v, drilled front corner, snorkel removed, wing blanking trim removed,  £5 vws filter. In winter I run no snorkel at all jus a great big hole out front, in summer I run some convoluted cable duct attached to front of snorkel as cold air duct, but the snorkel itself is chopped off inside so I still get the noise with only a few less db's.

i want the airbox kept completely standard, but the standard paper filters are let's be honest fairly crappy and you need to keep replacing them...

reckon i might just go with a pipercross panel filter

It's an air filter FFS.  Save your money and get a standard one.

How true.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
