Right, just bare in mind that i'm a real noob when it comes to car audio

My right hand door speaker rattles'fizzes at certain volumes and on certain songs, and was wondering wha  it could be... could it  be a lose connection? or a split in the speaker?

would it be worthwhile upgrading all of the door speakers or whatever? how much difference would it make, considering I wouldn't really want to spend anymore than £100 really... as in would I actually notice any difference?

This is my current headunit which my dad gave me:

What would all you car audio experts reccomend I do, should i just replace the dodgy speaker/fix it or buy a new system :undecided: :undecided:, if so what should i get... baring in mind i know like nothing about car audio stuff...

also can you spray paint the grills of the door speakers without afecting the sound?   I can't imagine it doing anything but would rather be sure...

Any help would be great

Cheers, Les

The speaker is probably deteriorating accelerated by a more powerful headunit.  Replace the front speakers which will will make an improvement.
Why do you want to paint the grilles?

Ahh yeah, that makes sense actually... I thought that maybe spraying the grilles saybe silver would be a nice touch i suppose

Are these the right size, and do they have good spec...? I like the price and also quite like that yellow (especially when its behind a silver grille )

Oh and if i went as far as replacing all 4 door speakers and added a bass in the boot, would my head unit power it all okay?

Cheers, Les

The 4 door speaker sets yes, but the boot sub no! You will need and amp for that.

They are just single speakers, you need components for the doors that have two speakers comprising mid/bass and seperate tweeters.

Would I have to use the original mk3 grilles of these, because they done seem to have any in the picture?

Cheers

Components they called as there can be 3 bits - 2 speakers and a crossover.

I wouldn't buy inphase stuff mate.

In my experience the build quality is shocking. Won't last very long at all and won't sound super great either.

mk3 has components as std but doesn't have a crossover like aftermarket components so you'll need to find some way of hiding/fitting it.

You could go co-ax but the sound won't be as good as comps, but they're easier and cheaper (generally to fit).

you'll want 6.5inch speakers for the doors. Ideally you'll want a set with various cutouts on the surround. Difficult to explain, ummm, most speakers have 4 screw holes for mounting. The standard locations have a few little nobbles that stick out a couple of mm to locate the speakers. If you buy a set of aftermarkets that don't have these you'll need to file these down which is fiddly.

Remove the grille and you'll see what i mean.

Sorry mate, what are "crossovers" and "comps" I have like no idea with regards to ICE  :embarassed:

I take what you say on board, but the In Phase gear seemed to get really good reviews, look: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-in-phase-xtc6_p-19738.htm

What system would you reccomend for £100 or less (for all 4 doors)?

Thanks for the advice, Les
