You can paint on the reflective bit around the outer edge. Think is because you've got single chamber lights it won't look as good as dual chamber lights like the GTI's have. I'd get some GTI headlights first (get them off the GTI you're buying :afro:) and then joey mod it.

With regards to the mayo behind the cam cover, I'd say it's lack of running. If you start her up once in a while but never take her for a motorway blast it'll be condensation rather than HG failure. Once you've passed, change the oil + filter and take her for a nice blast down the motorway. The Italian tune up works wonders but only do it if you're confident the engine is healthy and will take it no problems!

Go to Halfords and get a rubber bung ;) there is a pack that has different sizes one fits perfectly :)

I agree with Khare, the mayo like build up will be due to it not getting a good run out, so not much to worry about there.

With regards to the gti, shep is right, the amount you would have to swop is seriously not worth it. I would buy the car, nab the interior, headlights/tail lights/front fogs (if it has them). The gti suspension is slightly better than the non-gti ones, so you may wish to swap that over as well.

You can buy a rubber bung by itself from halfords, you don't actually have to buy the set, I can't remember off the top of my head what the size is but when you get there it should be obvious!

Looks like a good little project dude  i prefer the single chamber over the GTi ones, if you joey mod them and paint the bottom & steps going up they look sick, will try and find some flicks of mine when i had them when i get in from work :) or check my build thread in the sig.

Dan i checked your build thread and i did the same as yours  They turned out well havnt fitted them as yet but the are all back together now ready to go on, did have a small issue with the bloody reflective stuff peeling off but i dont think its to bad so im hopping it wont cause to much trouble

Photo of them drying

Gave hem one last paint after this photo just to tidy them up a bit :) Will fit them tomorrow and take another shot

Also nearly finished rubbing down the cam shaft cover ready for a matt black finish to make the engine bay look a little more tidy

Jobs for tomorrow........ fit cold air feed and swiss cheese box, remove rear window wiper, Sort/repair leaking rad and hopefully hover the inside because its looking a bit rough inside

Sorry mate, didn't see the question. You've done it right. :afro:

You gonna prime the rocker cover yeah? I'd lacquer it after as well, otherwise petrol will take the paint off.

Prime it lightly with a few coats. Do you know if it's alloy or steel?
