Had my  07 ed30 booked in for its 2nd mot today. When i dropped the car off, they told me there was a recall on the coil packs, and would check mine. (First registered march 2007).
On collection, yes, all coil packs changed. Been for a blast, and cannot notice any difference. Better safe though, than broken down.

Got mine done yesterday; I was given the warranty advice paper as proof and there is a new sticker near the spare tyre.

Together with the minor service, it seems a 'sweeter' smoother engine.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Yip, just bought a 56 plate golf gti and when getting the timing belt and water pump done, the vw specialist I used said to phone up vw and give reg number to see if any outstanding recalls. Sure enough car now booked in on wednesday for a recall for ignition coils.

probably won't notice any difference but the parts are new and not four years old so better than a kick up the back side
