They changed them all on my 05 GTI.  Didn't even have to ask them either.  Still robbing bastards when it comes to anything else though.

had mine done at leeds vw today, dont know if i will be going back to them for servicing though, i got the impression they looked upon me as a pain in the backside and didnt seem to be treated as a paying customer woud have been. they left the plastic seat cover and paper foot mat in the car when it was returned to me, so i just took them out and brought it back into them.

anyone recommend a good vw dealer in doncaster, wakefield, york area??

I just wanted to say a big thanks for making me aware of this recall - as I get mine serviced now at an independent I was unaware.

Just got it booked in at the local dealer's to have the packs replaced. Cheers. :)

Cheers for this!
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

I just called my local VW. All you need is your reg no and they will tell you if your car is affected. I own a 08 edition30 and was ok. Thanks for the tip off

Put my 07 Golf GTi into Arnold Clark VW on Crow Road in Glasgow this morning having been advised it needed new coil packs when I phoned them to check. When they physically checked them it turned out they didn't need doing after all. Only took an hour all in, and better safe than sorry.

On the plus side, I got a wash and vac and all the coffee I could drink in an hour :)

I usually avoid dealers like the plague, but I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and professionalism. The service manager was on the ball, making sure everything was running smoothly, allocating jobs to his desk jockies, and even helping customers use the very complicated coffee machine.

There was even a driver on hand offering customers a lift to work if they wanted it.

If anyone from VW Crow Road Glasgow is reading this, Good Job!
