No don't worry i'm not that short sighted, you can't expect perfection no matter what you buy and how much money you spend. My current car just has too many niggles and every time i get in it theres a new one to add to the list .

I love the DSG it's so much more than just an auto box  i don't intend to turn this into a manual vs dsg thread

My 92 Mk2 came from Hadwins in Grange Over Sands - it's still got the stickers in. So if they've been going that long they must be ok.
Sorry if I've been negative. I do love Golfs and have had several. They have been generally very good and are perfect for a private buyer like me cos I always get a good resale on them.
I also don't expect cars to be perfect - my only frustration with VW has been with the dealers over the years. I have several examples of faults on my various Golfs that they've simply not been able (or willing) to fix. And now we're in the realms of £25-£30k cars with the GTi that's simply not good enough. However, as per my recent thread, Doncaster have been pretty good so far to me - excellent sales experience and they have worked hard with my GTi's faults so maybe finally I've found a good dealer.

If your going for the 18" wheels then i recomend you go for the ACC suspesnsion option as one of your complaints about the renault is the ride quality.

WILLS,

I put my order in back in October (VAT protected and free svs with pcp finance), recently had my build week and looking at april (2011!),

definitely consider the ACC on 18s for the option to have a smooth ride when needed, maybe drop the leather can't really see the need myself and then get some more extras.

as for where to buy you can try reputable brokers (carfile i went with) or main dealer would be evo.

WILLS:

I would spec as follows:

ACC
Standard flat colour, Standard Cloth seats and Standard 17" wheels
Winter Pack
Luxury Pack
Front and rear sensors

Retro-fit the Sat Nav RNS510.

Perfectly specced with a fabulous ride IMO.
