The coloured-in bumpers give the Ed30 a big fat rear, like a Harlepool lass on a Friday night.

 Class - each to their own, but personally I don't like the black rear bumper/side skirts and front splitter on the GTI as it looks as if they couldn't be bothered to finish the job and give them a nice lick of paint to match the rest of the car....  :smug:

Why is your ED30 up for sale?
Turbo lag, harsh ride or Focus RS's?

I had a 3DR Manual Steel Grey Ed30 for over 2 years.

The car was great, apart from the brakes, utter shyte!  sorted with some S3 Front and rears.

I mapped the car with Superchips, and it was the worst thing I did, it came off after 150miles.  I never mapped again, standard power delivery IMO was far better than the SC BF offering.

My car had a few warranty claims, creaking seat base, Dual mass Flywheel and a steering rack, I don't think these are just attributable to the Ed30.

I have never driven a KO3 Gti, so can't comment.  Ed30's on forums seem to command a far higher price than on Autotrader/PH.  As Hurdy alludes to, DSG's are at times temperamental, warranty is a must.

Oh Egbert, if only you read my posts properly.   I've had the car for nearly 4 years and its been great; it's just time for a change and have something completely different and to be fair I usually change my car every 2-3 years, so this has been an exception.

Lets put the argument to bed and just say if the Ed30 and GTI were both the same price I'm sure most people would plump for the Ed30 - you'd be mad not to, extra power, better tirm, golf ball gear knob, oh the list is endless!

I do like the Ed30 and may get one next, the only thing I don't like is the fact that everything is colour coded.  It makes the rear look too similar to other models.  Don't get me wrong still a great car, I just prefer the look of the trim on the GTI.

As apposed to the beautiful, un-finished plastic-look back bumber on the standard GTI, that countless GTI owners have colour coded?

Having had the ''standard'' mk5 GTI & now the proud owner of an Edition 30 have to say the ED 30 is what the GTI should have been from launch. Part heated leather seats, fully colour coded body work & great alloys  (never did like Monza alloys) & the extra power of course.Love it. :smug:

The only special edition I would consider is the Pirelli.
