Not even a few hundred its infact £165 and sometimes it is difficult to make a decision , i couldn't decide. I'm sure you have had decisions to make before?

£16.50 a month more to tax

If you said higher fuel costs then fair enough but a one off marginally higher payment being a deciding factor in your purchase is mental. I chose the S3 as it's cheaper to run than an RS4 and just as quick after a map, the fact it had higher tax was irrelevant.

Get an ED30 with 4wd and say bye bye to the R32, Ed30 and GTI

problem is you then compromise practicality. no one in their right mind would think of buying a 5dr S3... simply as they are ugly!

the 3dr still looks nice.. the 5dr is just a big boo boo

Jules..........165 divided by 12 (The amount of months in a year) is £13.75 not £16.50

I wasnt going to buy both was i , so had to choose , whether the tax had anything to do with it is part of the decision making process which we all do every day.

I was looking at spending between 25 and 30k so really the amount of tax was irellevant to me but is to others when it comes to sell it in 4/5 years. So saved a heap of cash , bought a new car for the wife and booked two foreign holidays for this year. Then when i come to buy another car perhaps i might seek your advice!

My R32 cost me even less than that, it was the same as a GTI. It made no difference though and i really don't believe someone who looks at an R32 cares about the tax costs.

For me it was 'this sounds awesome' so i bought it
