Soo, tonight didn't go quite go to plan. Ended up with a misfire, replaced the plugs and coil packs and that sorted that out. The old plugs were a mess. They have only been used while getting the conversion up and running but were toast, I guess the effects of running without a map sensor and a fecked maf.  Anyway it's all good now, boosting cleanly and no fault codes.

We were supposed to be tweaking the gear cables and bleeding the brakes as they feel a tad spongey. Gear cables were sorted but when bleeding the brakes we noticed an issue - a solid line has been crushed, we suspect when we redid the loom and had to have the master cylinder off.

So now one more job to do in the morning. Then tax it, then finally do some driving.

Can't wait

Awesome! Update on how it goes!
Hopefully it will be sound but expect a couple of teething problems! There usually is!

so its been on the road a week.

i have been flashed by one speed camera, had one remap, two rolling road sessions, one car meet, 3 sets of wheels and now its not running haha.

the bmw 15's were ditched for a set of borrowed 17" rc splits, but because of the adapters and widened track, we couldnt get the car to sit right without loads of camber, which will wreck the traction, so they lasted 24hours.

i am now back on 15's but without the adapters, borrowed a set of pepperpots.

we put the car on the rolling road on sunday and in standard trim (albeit decat, air filter, front mount etc) we pulled 188bhp.  I was happy enough with that as a starting figure but gareth at www.map-tech.net decided that while we were on the rollers we may as well bang a stage 2 map on, a pairly generic one for the engine but he tweaked it a little to take into account the few mods it has.

the result is impressive. 249.1bhp and it absolutely flies now.

(gareth has asked me to mention the graph looks wierd because we didnt have a working rev counter at the time and he needed to input the revs we were doing whilst the wheels were turning the rollers, or something like that, i didnt really listen)

I have to say i was initially a little dissapointed at the performance on my first drive but the remap has transformed it into the kind of car i was expecting.

Sadly on tuesday i accelerated a little too soon for a 60 limit and got flashed at 59 in a 50. First offence so hoping for a speed awareness course.

I have been hunting high and low for some suitable wheels for the car and kind of settled for a set untill something a bit more my taste comes along.  They are 16" 2 piece tommy kaira wheels from a kaira edition impreza. pretty high offset so i will be able to get them to sit exactly where i want them.  also planning on making some centres that will cover the bolt holes to try and disquise the 5 stud hubs a little.

the car started messing around a little when starting, the fuel pump isnt priming, fuze is ok, swapped the relay and that seemed to help but it was a red herring.

still at least that gives me something to do this weekend now...

Sooo, it turns out I have fried an ecu.

Going to investigate to see if I can see what went wrong before I install the replacement.

Did a mock up on the wheels. Split them down and stripped the lacquer off the lips. I am going for gold centres.

I am 99% certain that they were built reverse mounted from factory to get the offset right for impreza. I mocked one up and reverse mounted it myself (ie opposite to factory, how they look like they should have been built) and the are et36. I recon they designed them wrong then reverse mounted them to correct the offset . Or not.

ecu was full of water and a couple of pins had rotted out, sourced a replacement off ebay and that is now with gareth at www.map-tech.net awaiting the map and immob delete being redone.

here is a picture of the car
