Forgot to add a pic of a finished rear wheel, just the one to go...

Rubbed down waiting for clear coat

Clear coated, rubbed back and polished (just the spokes)

Final wheel has been rubbed down and any small dings filled with chemical metal this evening, will be flatting them off tomorrow and priming it if the weather dries up a bit

Had a good session on the car last night; fitted the two remaining wheels along with my 15mm spacers and also gave the brakes another bleed though front and back

Unfortunately I've discovered a split in my passenger side outer CV boot so that needs doing before it decides to cover everything with grease....

But anyways here are a few pics of the work carried out before (coilovers, 256mm rear brakes, rear beam swap) and some of last nights efforts

Rear coilovers fitted with new bushes in the rear beam and poly spring tops

256mm rear brakes with proper splash guards, new wheel bearings and new handbrake cables/springs

Shot showing the rear wheels with 15mm spacers now I've centred the rear beam, spot on IMO

Rear wheel on the car

Front wheel off to bleed the Brembos and also showing the 10mm spacers, coilover spring covers and 4motion brake line brackets fitted

Please ignore the widowmaker, it was on blocks as well...

and my split CV boot

Hoping to get a decent shot of the car tomorrow once I've washed it but it's sitting really nice now and the brakes have improved massively since the bleed :afro:

Will probably give it a few weeks and I'll bleed them again just to make sure they are as good as they should be

Split CV boot has been replaced which stopped my wheel arch being covered in crap. At the moment all I'm interested in doing is putting petrol in and driving it, really lost the motivation as the winter is setting in. I have a long list of jobs to do but I really can't see me doing them for a few months

Re-tap and helicoil turbo to manifold thread
Fit new manifold at the same time
Strip Brembos down and free up a sticky piston
Fit some sort of bright light in the boot after breaking my CCFL
Re-glue roof lining
Fix various LEDs inside
Fit puddle lights
Have centre box removed
Fit new rear discs
Re-cover door card inserts with same material as roof lining
Take it back to R-Tech for a map tweak

And the expensive ones...

Possibly fit replica R line front and rear bumpers

That idea has been discussed too mate...

Anyways after finding someone has used my front bumper to gauge their bad parking AGAIN, R line bumpers are off the list

Right quick update; after losing interest in doing anything on it for a long time...

The original list was:

Re-tap and helicoil turbo to manifold thread
Fit new manifold at the same time
Strip Brembos down and free up a sticky piston
Fit some sort of bright light in the boot after breaking my CCFL

Re-glue roof lining
Fix various LEDs inside
Fit puddle lights
Have centre box removed
Fit new rear discs
Re-cover door card inserts with same material as roof lining
Take it back to R-Tech for a map tweak

all interior LEDs are done and are a lot brighter than the others I had in there, shows how much LEDs have advanced over the years.

I've fitted new LED boot light strips which now lights up both sides of the boot as well as keeping the old light with a bright LED in there

Roof lining is being redone with dye, I've got a spare roof lining from my mate which I can do in my garage so I don't have to rush it (story of my life...) and hopefully I can source the A B and C pillar covers from the same car as my local scrapyard has now shut so no more scrapyard spares for me

I've also had to concede that my Cupra R Brembos are going to need a refurb as I've warped another set of discs

Hopefully my mate can skim them and get them true again but in the meantime I've got myself a set of 288mm discs and calipers to go on so I can sort the calipers at least. I've bought myself a complete rebuild kit consisting of 8 inner seals and 8 dust boots. I'm pretty sure the pistons are ok but I'll double check once they're out and give them and quick going over with some wet and dry and polish if needs be.

It's the usual story with 4 pots with however many pistons being lazy so an unequal pressure is being applied to the pads and also the pistons could not be retracting in as quick as the others leaving the pad generating heat when in constant contact with the disc.

While I've got them off I thought I'd swap the braided hoses over as the ones on the car at the mo are designed for the Leon and not the Golf so they are too long. HEL sell some braided hoses designed for Porsche calipers on a Mk4 Golf but they are the same fitment so I've bought some of them.

I've also had my centre box removed from the exhaust which has stopped it banging on the floor and gives it a slightly better note now

So main things to do now are to get the brakes swapped over and start on the refurb and also get the roof lining started while the warm weather is here.

Also I've now found out the map tweak isn't going to be possible due to R-Tech no longer mapping the AGU

Anyways I'll report back once I've done something else to it but don't expect any updates for a while lol

Thanks mate.

The emulator they used to map the AGU has broken and as it's a bit old hat now they won't be replacing it. There are a few others that still do it, someone I talk to on ukmkivs is due to have a custom map done by a company in Birmingham at the weekend so I'll report back on how he goes with that
