you need to press the menu button for 10 sec on the iPod with the other finger pressed on the wheel! If not google iPod stuck and you get your result there . Mine did the same last week fixed now.

I gave the Ipod a hard reset (menu button en middle button pressed at the same time) and I am in business again....
I wonder how we can make the Ipod Media less faulty...eg before you switch off the car change to HDD or CD or SD...

Any ideas/experiences...cause this is bound to happen a lot.....

Sounds more like your iPod is at fault than your car

I've had mine lock a couple of times...
I simply lift the armrest, unplug the media cable, then replug it back in.  Wait 30 seconds, and its good as new.
Its only happened twice, and both times have been when the iPod hasn't been used for 3 or 4 days.

I'm using an old 5th Gen iPod - so its not advanced enough to have coverflow!

If you search over the net you unfortunately have to come to the conclusion that the Ipod and the RNS510 are not really compatible....

I wonder what is worse....not compatible....or "not really" compatible.....I think in the long run I will go back to a 32 Gig USB stick....

I have a similar problem with my iPod Classic 80GB and my RCD510. Usually happens if I haven't driven the car for a couple of days. I have a suspicion that the iPod battery drains whilst it's connected to the RCD510, even with the ignition turned off. When the iPod battery is flat, the RCD510 won't recognise it until it has some degree of charge.
