Early cars feel fast due to less sound proofing and tat attached to them.

I am still to see this difference in sound proofing between my 84, a mate's 85, my 88 and my dad's 89 gti. As it happens, the digifants that i'm comparing the k-jets to were all of the same spec too: poverty.

Not arguing with any of your other points though

8v against 16v?

My 8v did my 8,000 miles, missed a few beats but never broke down or went wrong. Even with the cylinder head corroding away in the water system and the whole cylinder head in need of a re-build, it was perfect.

My lovely new 16v... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=148215.0

8v against 16v? f**k man, 8v all the way.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

This is such a stupid post. If your 16V is flat all the way up until 4500rpm then its not setup right.

BOAST FAIL

Get it setup properly you retard before saying how amazing your 16v is!

someones tired

so applying 20% losses your 8v makes 140bhp at the fly with a panel filter and exhaust, and its not even run in yet?

but do you actually believe thats what power it has? panel filters make f all difference, exhausts make little difference unless the head has been worked and a standard rebuild will bring it back to std power. You are quoting 16v power!

i'm pretty convinced you have got wheel and flywheel power mixed up

My 1.9, flowed head and tasty cam should be about 140 at the fly so I can't see a standard rebuilt lump having the same.

Still I bet it feels nice after a fresh rebuild and I bet you can't wait to get it run in and really give it some welly.
