It's gonna take a lot of work still! I'm happy with how it is so far, at first i thought i'd bitten off more than I could chew!  :embarassed:

Then I told myself to man up and get on with it!

the door - rust wise isnt bad, you did the right thing with filler and paint etc. i suspect when you remove your masking tape you will have a lip, which is a b!tch to get rid of. lol

and the wing, the rust WILL come back, i went down your route with my nova. and a year later the rust was back. if i were you, spray this now, get it looking good. but always look out for a wing. as your always chasing the rust.

if it was on part of the chassis. you would of have to cut it out, and plate it, welding it in etc etc.

Yeah I know it'll come back, I got rid of as much as I could see but who knows how much of the damn stuff is lurking behind the scenes!

It'll do the job for the moment though and as SoundillusioN said it's def not made it worse!

yeh i agree, you have halted it for a while.

the reason why it rotted is because the dirt was all sitting there.

make sure you clean out all traps like this, as dirt holds water so makes it rot alot quicker :)

keep up the good work.

Right small update while i'm waiting for the old man to return with more paint!

Started off by removing all the masking tape etc from last night, feathered the primer into the existing paint and masked it all up again!

The sprayed 2 coats of primer along the entire of the bottom of the door and this is the result:

Once I was happy with the primer I gave it a couple of coats of Red, sanded down using 800 and then 1200 grit wet and dry paper, this is how it stands at the moment.

Gonna give it another couple of coats of top coat, and see what the finish is like, if i'm not happy i'll sand down and repray until I am!

Once it's fine i'll laquer it and see what the result is!
