Ok, so 2 coats of primer, 5 coats of colour and a lot of sanding later here is the result!

I'm pretty happy with it, the pictures don't do it justice really due to a crappy camera. The paintwork all looks slightly pink, but I can assure you it's not! The colour match is very good, the new paint is slightly matt....which leads me onto....my only dilema now is how to finish it  :undecided:

Theres a slight 'orange peel' effect due to using a rattle can. I've got some lacquer for it, the instructions say to sand the top coat down to a matt finish and then lacquer, a mate told me not to bother sanding it down though??

Or do I not lacquer it, wait a couple of weeks and using a cutting compound on it?! Or, lacquer it and then use cutting compound??! Really don't know what to do!! Any advice appreciated!!

Obviously all of the above options will be finished with a good wax and polish!

(also thought i'd get my dad's morris minor in a shot!)

Finally tomorrow's task!!

Cheers for the comments

I'm gonna try and sort the drivers side tomorrow and get all the trim put back on. Then it's a good wash and polish and i'll get some better pics up!

Depends on how good you want it to look.

You could flat the colour back with 1200 grit (takes a while) very carefully to take 75% of the peel out then lacquer then wait a day and flat and polish with 1500

or just put a fair bit of lacquer on and then flat and polish with 1500.

2000 would be better then 1500 but you will need loads of patience and paper.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Will putting on more lacquer without flatting back the colour still give a decent finish? It's not the most obvious part of the car but i've spent a fair bit of time on it already so want it to look good!

Yeah it will, you just have to be more careful cutting back. Plus ideally it should be laquered when the paint is "tacky" to get a good bond. If the paint is really hard it's best to flat it back or atleast key it with some 1200. You don't have to flat right back, just key it up.
