Widths the same, boot height looks the same as the R32 due to were the level of the ski hatch is on the photo.
Is the battery in the boot on the new R like the r32 or under the bonnet?

I didn't realise the R32 battery was in the boot.  Was this down to the huge 3.2 engine not leaving much room under the bonnet?

It would've been a struggle to get it in the usual place but i reckon it could've been squeezed in if they really wanted.. the official line was that it's for weight distribution.

Some lucky person in Germany has their Rising Blue Golf R 5 door already:

Very nice!  Too many doors for me though.  I can't help thinking the 'normal' lighting of those photos makes the Rising Blue colour considerably darker than in the press photos.  Photoshop a black wheel onto the rear of photo 6 - and you'll see what it would really look like.

Sticking with the black wheels:

I think the Golf R gets away with them because of the gloss black mirrors/grille/etc. There is very little (any?) chrome on the car.

I've photochopped the wheels from the Golf R brochure (the German one), so not 100% realistic. I reserve final judgement until I've seen real photos of a Rising Blue Golf R with the black wheels.

But, for the moment, won't be phoning my dealer to change to silver wheels.
