Hold off till Nov 2011.
Then buy one in December.
The Mk7 will hammer the price right down.

unlikely. if your constantly thinking like a tight ass why not just buy a mk5 now, or even a mk4.

Hold off till Nov 2011? Then, surely it's got to be the Mk7 R. But what about the Mk 8 R just 2 years after and so on and so on.

The Mk7 will hammer the price right down.

Strange that the Mk6 hasn't had that affect on Mk5 R32 residuals and prices have been steadily going up the last 12 months?

Back on topic.

Not Golf R strictly, but someone on another forum has contacted VW customer services and got news about their Scirocco R:

Anyone think it's worth phoning? Or best to just wait for my stealer to call me. Would be good to check the spec.

Damn. Just realised "R32." is "EgbertNosh" and I've taken the bait. Thinking of giving up on this forum.

Got to say..... just saw a reveiw on the new BMW 5 series..... very nice!
Ok different type of car etc etc etc, but £28k for new 5 series that's well spec'd up on kit and out March 2010 vs Golf R at £29k.

Hmmmm...... I did think...... if I pulled my order.... would I loose my deposit!

Funny as I was looking at a new shape E class and could have got a serious deal at about £26k, but went for the Golf GTI again as Merc was fuddy duddy and had plastic leather seats (and was drab in side), but the new 5 series..... very nice in side, and looks very sharp too!

Have you actually sat in a 5 series? I was massively disappointed after all the Audis I've been in.

Current one is ok, few of the guys at work have them but know what you're saying. I drove the previous E Class for a while and that was a nicer place to be than the current 5 series. I did try the new E class, didn't like it at all. However this new 5 series looks nice on the in side (so IMO they've swapped places, but each to their own lol). Also I did not like the new C class.

Got to say the Golf is a much nicer place to be than all of them IMO (signed and cash down very quickly after sitting in a new GTI at the show \ test drive, but at first wasn't sure on the exterior vs my current mk5 but the new interior especially with the RCD510 which sold me).

What did you think of the A3\S3? I hated the dash (big blob of plastic), thought Q5 was very nice on inside, but bland on the outside.
Reviews are so right Golf does everything so well, but the picks of the new 5 did get me thinking hmmm!

I'm not a big fan of the A3 interior. I like the new A4 and the A6 inside though. I'm sure they are no better or worse than the 5 series or Merc, I just prefer the styling. People have often commented that the inside of various VW's I've had are bland but they work well and I the Mk6 is the best so far. VW still seems to be the worst of the Germans for trim rattles though.
