Amp cutting out...
« on: 19 April 2009, 18:57 »
I'm taking it this is to do with me having it too loud? Set the gains too high?

I have a new 6 channel amp and have all channels bridged to 3 channels, 2 comps and a sub. I know how to set up the sound etc, just thinking is it my battery that is the problem hear as not enough juice is getting to it? Or is it the AWG wire I'm using (8AWG) which is the minimum recommended for this amp.

Any help?

grounding issue shady??  Were you running an amp on the same ground previously etc?  A lot of amps do have protection against underload/overload

It has two fuses on the amp, and an inline fuse near the battery. It's a JBL GTO 755.6 I believe. As for the grounding, my ground is solid, it's on a bolt under the rear seat, contacting a surface of bare metal :)

I never had this problem with the old amp (4 channel JBL 1004e) and using the same cables.

had this brfore with a monobox 4 amp on my old 306 turned out it was the battery  it would run for a little bit and then cut out and go into protection mode, then when i ran the car and started it again it would do it al over again! my battery wasnt great and the amp just killed it!

your wiring will be fine it just means ure not going to get the best out of the amp as it cant suck enough power to run full but wouldnt cause it to cut out!

the only other thing to check would be the earth as said in above post. the beat place for an earth is a seatbelt mount clean it of all paint and tighten the earth (dont forget its alot of power to get rid of)

personally if its not a good earth then that will be ure problem but if you know thats all good then id check ure battery!

hope that helps

cheers
