no its not but most people who have brought in the last 18 months new the score, not saying its fair as we pay more tax by use more petrol, but as jules said its worth it. Besides ive used it as a excuse to stop smoking and in return i are £30 a week better off after taking out my £9 a week road tax  :nerd:  :smiley:

It's such a very difficult decision!

I'm certain that if the Mk5 R32 had been out when I bought my GTI in 2005, I'd have bought the Mk5 .:R (I wanted a Mk4 .:R originally).

The V6 zorst music is enough to sway it for me, especially on Millteks. Mpg? I only get about 28 in my GTI (modified) - So that means I'd probably only get about 24 in an .:R!

Like others have already said, they are both such excellent cars and one is not better than the other. I love the tactile feel of my GTI though, especially since fitting the Quaife and VWR-KW-V3 suspension.

The trick is to be happy with what you've got rather than what you haven't got.

Not interested in a MkV R32 but am looking to shift my ED30 for a 130i M Sport.I think i preferred my Golf V5 to my ED30.Never had the MkIV R32 but found the Golf V6 4mo i had rather soft.The GTi/ED30 are both very good cars as we all know and do pretty much everything rather well, maybe a little to well for me though, if you catch my drift.. :smiley:

My last car was a BMW and I think I generally prefer them to Audi's.

UPDATE

Well had the test drive today which went very well. Was not helped by another salesman double booking somebody else to drive it at exactly the same time. As I had first dibs not a problem, but looked like it was all going to kick off at one point as Mr Angry had to wait while I had my go. Obviously dented my chance to bargain though.

extra spec is 5dr, DSG, Sat Nav, Recaros, parking sensors and sunroof.


First impressions :

Feels very solid, maybe the extra weight compared to the GTI and alot quieter than what I remembered the mk4 being. DSG is interesting, felt like a normal automatic but much smoother. I think it kicked down 3 gears doing an overtake on the A road! Didnt get a chance to get it out of D mind you.

So anyway......

Im sorry, have I got this right? You preferd your MKIV V5 (commonly known as the 2nd worst MKIv after the 2.0) than your MKV GTI ? I shall refrain from going mental until I have clarified what you said.
