It's a 20k+ car, the servicing is fairly reasonable. When in 18 years time or so you can buy one for 1k and service it with 'bargins' off da bay - go for it.

you could service it yourself with genuine or equivalent parts for a fraction of the price.

I would say most dealers charge healthy for servicing these days . A lot of motor manus should do the mini tlc thingy for £100 covers you for 3 years.Or take out VW service plan for 3 years i took that on the mk4 gti and they gave me back £500 at the end as my car hadn't had much done do it in the 3 years of ownership.

As for servicing  a car yourself these days good luck, out in your drive or road doing an oil change feck that, getting the tools for spark plug removal etc. cars these days are built so that your novice will take them to the dealerships instead of all the hassle of doing it yourself.

If you can afford to buy a 20k+ car you can afford to pay £200 to have it serviced.

But in 10 years time when people like me will own them I will have to service it myself.

so they do f**k all really. what a con.

He's right, main dealer servicing is an absolute piss take.  Only useful for keeping the warranty sweet.

Dont get me wrong, I will pay it and not try and cut corners, just didn't expect it to be that much is all. And its more than £200 btw :)

Aye it ranges between £200 & £2++.My 1st service was £200 but they gave me a winter pack, screen wash, de-icer and top up oil incl. Not much granted
I try and get them to do other things like fix something i have broken :embarassed: helps me sleep lol.Once the car is 3yrs old it will drop to my tuner who does Vag servicing too.
