The search the button is your friend ! - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=65779.0

This place is like the wikipedia on Golfs. If you do an advance search on any topic I bet you it has been talked about or there is info regarding it.

thanks, will try and remember to use the search function  :embarassed:

No, its not a Mk2.  The longlife oil itself is quite expensive.. around the £50-60 mark I think.  I don't understand why you're so concerned anyway as you don't own a Mk5 GTI.

Send a letter to VW UK HQ if you're so concerned at the prices.

aye £50 for 50 litres of the stuff at trade prices.

a fool and his money are easily parted.

why is this guy so concerned about where we spend our money?

one thing the OP will get from the main dealer that he wouldnt get from an independant is a software update.

Don't you think you're being a bit too forgiving to Sharpie?     A much worse, but accurate description comes to my mind.   However, being Christmas and all, I suppose we need to be a bit charitable... anyone care to chip in for the 'I need me a Mk5 GTI' fund for Sharpie?

I thought not

the OP was greeting about being taken up the ass for servicing costs, so not just me.

to be honest you've already wasted ~£20k on what's essentially a family hatchback so another £300 servicing won't make any odds.

Alan ring loads of dealers and LIE about how much they've quoted you. Knocked £40 off my GF's service for her Fiesta + a coolant change and brake fluid change for free!
