Got my W8 this morning...

Got my W8 light this morning in the post and this is what came with it

i have read through ALL of the install guides, but i really dont know where to go from here.

im assuming that the black cable i got is to plug the light in the headlining.
so do i now need the cable that runs from the headlining to the light switch ? and where does it plug into at the top because i think you break it into a purple cable on the light switch ?

I know you said you have read all the guides but i used this one and just made up the adpter plug using genuine parts - then its plug and play

looking at it, the one with the red bullet connector appears to be the power lead - extend this down to behind the light switch and tap into the blue/grey wire as that will then dim the LED's along with the rest of the dash lights :afro:

do you know what cable i use ? or where i get it from ?

so if i cut off the metal 'bullet' bit connect the end of a cable and take it down to the light switch and the connect it to the grey/blue cable.

finally going to have a go at doing something myself

think i used some 10-15amp cable from halfords - they sell it in 2m rolls i think  :undecided:

you could mate it with the corresponding connector and then take it down rather than trying to solder the connection

Old plug end               New plug end

3                                4

2                                5

1                                3

1 (wire runs down to fuse box for + feed)

The ends on the wires you have labelled 3 4 and 5 look like they will slot straight into your standard plug so just use the diagram above. Rhyso is right, the bullet ended wire will be the one needed to run down the A pillar to the grey/blue wire off the back of the dimmer switch to give the illumination (and dimmer controlled)

Give me a shout if you need any help on this as I used to make and sell the adaptors

Always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on electrics

yep as the first fuse to go is the one that controls the central locking, windows and interior lights!

Wazzr i really think you should start making those looms again, they're only available of Kufatec for £22ish!
