I'm only going on what I've read here, but isn't the valver restricted because it was capable of giving similar Bhp to the VR?

Let's be honest, the VR has a pretty poor output for that size engine! :smiley:

Pretty sure the ABF was restricted by use of tame cams and restrictive inlet. You can't just turn off 12% of the power of an engine via the ECU and still get it to run right and be fuel efficient.

As said but also all engines are restricted in some way to make emmisions better, so the engine lasts longer and to increase mpg!!
the 16v possibly can give 175bhp by simply adjusting the electronics and "simple" parts but 148 is about right for the Era (the rival's rs2000 had 150, astra gsi had 150 too)

I have read that many times and I don't believe it, the VR6 was aimed at different market, as bb said 150 was about right for the time it was on sale.

Was lead the beleive that a remap on a 16v was good for about 6bhp. This was from a local specialist

That sounds about right, you aren't going get big increases remapping an NA engine.

6 bhp to me sounds right aswell. Gains of 26 bhp with a std turbo engine no problem but our 16v's no chance. If only it could be done :smiley:. I'm sure R-tech would back that up

bhp gains will be low on a n/a car but its the amount of mappable things you can do ie setting the torque where you want on the power band etc. that appels from a remap

Hey.

I read my printout completly wrong.

The car went in as 148.4bhp and after a livemap was 165.1.

I understand some rollers are different but the gain was noticeable!

Believe it or not, as long as i noticed it thats all what counts!
