I can see that its an issue when something like this happens but he should have gone to the tuner who did the work on his car in the first place, a dealer would never like it unless it had fitted the parts.

....Generally true but not necessarily. I'm very lucky to say that my VW dealer will always do what they can to help. Obviously they won't take responsibility for a third party's work but will willingly work on it if asked - It's good business.

:afro:

The chaps AA cover was part of his Seat deal so the AA insisted that it be towed to the dealer rather than the tunner which he requested but was denied.

....Thank goodness my VW Assist would take to me to my VW dealer who have an approved Revo agent on their staff.

There are a couple of points in this thread that I thought we should answer:

1. Revo software is warranted for life. As stated though this isn't a problem with the software, however we're helping VAG Tech do what they can to get to the bottom of it. Incidentally the ECU functions and can be communicated with out of the car!

2. In regards to Brians post about the tuner he used blaming Revo for their flash crashing out... it's not related to Revo at all. It's one of those things that happens if you have any loss in communication whilst flashing a car, some flashing equipment isn't always reliable and with comms in the car sometimes causing problems as well it's not unknown for people flashing cars to have problems. (we get a lot of companies calling us to help them in this scenario). In this case the ECU flash was interupted for some reason leaving the car in reflash mode (thus the fans running with the ignition on)...

3. ...following on from above! Revo trial software (or any of our software) doesn't lock other tuners out of the ECU. The problems occur if the tuner in question doesn't have the ability to write a complete factory file to the ECU before tuning it and only modify the flash memory. Trial code reverts to stock running and actually uses the stock maps, although not necessarily where another tuner would expect them to be... when they only read a limited area of the ECU it looks nothing like they expect it to. All Revo dealers have the ability to flash a complete stock file to any car we cater for.
We know of companies that say they can't write over Revo software even when they have the ability to! They're just trying all they can to throw mud at us!

My car is with VW finance on a PCP for 3 years (after which I will ow VW £6500 but Im just going to give the car back and get a new one). Does this mean they "own" my car until I have paid it off? I am getting her remaped soon :D :D :D :D and tbh I am probably still going to go ahead with this but just want to know out of interest.

Yes, the finance company who loan you the money are the ones who legally own the car until you pay off the final balance. Until the very last payment you only "hire" the car from them.

thanks for clearing that up Kev

i wasn't taking it as gospel from the tuner that their explanation was true
and for the record I wasn't trying to reflect on your company any bad vibes
infact if I was closer to one of your more recognised agents i'd most certainly consider a Revo map
the good things said on here mainly about JKM makes me wish I stayed south of the border

your vw dealer must be the best in the country!! they seem to have everything and seem to do anything for you (even mods), whereas everyone else is stuck with cr@ppy service. which dealership is it??!! think i might have to get my next car from them

Just a quick update peeps...

VagTech have found the fault - It's a blown relay. This would now make it a SEAT issue to fix, had the guys at VagTech not replaced it and the car now starts ok. However, Seat have come back to me today and said they are standing by thier original decision, and will not accept the findings of a local garage as accurate, and will need the car re-tested by them at my own expense, even though this fault no longer exists.

No mention of re-instating any warranty, the breakdown cover or re-imbursting any expenses...

They still want the car back, and that is what will happen. I have spoken to David Johns and Julie Sinclair at Auto Express, who are both very keen to write an article on what's happened, so watch this space...

bloody dealer should check things and not just plug them in if you ask me
