i well be going stage 2 on my vxr next year through Regal Auto Sport, if they do the work they will give you a warenty on the work they carry out and the normal Vaux one covers the rest of the car. How come Revo dont offer this? 

still feel sorry for the guy, i bet a fair few people mod a car which is on finace as they fully intend to pay for the car in full. I can see that its an issue when something like this happens but he should have gone to the tuner who did the work on his car in the first place, a dealer would never like it unless it had fitted the parts. 

From what i read about the incident its not down to Revo either, the problems started after an intercooler install, perhaps something has got damaged on the install and now non of the systems can talk to the car ??

My car is with VW finance on a PCP for 3 years (after which I will ow VW £6500 but Im just going to give the car back and get a new one). Does this mean they "own" my car until I have paid it off? I am getting her remaped soon and tbh I am probably still going to go ahead with this but just want to know out of interest.

but doing any more to car than a reversible remap is taking too big a chance with warranties etc

I think what realy has happened is Seat took the hump after he contacted them and then dug their heals in regarding mods to an almost new car

If it was me i'd get a loan and settle the finance, there can't be anything that wrong with it.

during the 1st reflash of mine I had the ecu lock and the fans come on
The remapper said it was probably because the car had a Revo trial that had expired and if they knew that it could have been avoided
The car was then reflashed with a standard VAG map and then redone, no problems since

Also remember the car starting once and then not again, might just be coincidence

....No, the problem would be because the Revo Trial had NOT expired yet - Their trial lasts for 5 hours before it 'self-destructs' and if you haven't completed those 5 hrs a 'residue' will remain and can screw things up until professionally replaced. The remapper wouldn't be able to see the presence of the Revo Trial. It's a known event.

They asked who....I said Revo....and they said no problem.

I think you've got a pretty special dealer there Robin....I've mentioned the whole Revo thing to four separate dealers (also separate ownerships, so e.g. not all from the Windrush chain), and none will give me the time of day about it.

If anyone else knows of a dealer that is OK with Revo, or any remap for that matter, then please do share....because I think its a very very rare thing!!!!!

....To make it very clear - Whereas my dealer, VW Loders of Dorchester, will happily accept and work on a VW with a Revo remap, the same warranty rules will apply. According to what the workshop session is for, I will always switch to Stock for them. Their attitude is that you are a valued customer whose car they want to do all they can to maintain (it's good business sense) and the only issues are what costs can be recuperated or not from VW UK under warranty.

One of their staff is now an independent but approved Revo dealer (thanks to me!). This means that, for a small charge as is now usual with many Revo dealers (their choice, not Revo's), if the VW session updates your ECU and trashes the remap, it can be put back on with minimum inconvenience. [I need to double-check these details with them]

PM me if anyone wants a personal introduction - I don't recieve commission but it will add to my bank of goodwill and probably also help you.

I think that I got them to be open-minded about Revo partly due to Revo's good reputation with VAG and partly because they knew me personally as a friendly and good customer and they simply wanted to help - Good business sense again.

....Revo dealers are totally independent from Revo - They can do as they feel fit providing that they work to Revo's standards and don't misrepresent them.

Revo don't really need to make warranty statements - They simply fully support their products providing they were bought legitimately. Revo have a reputation second to none for aftersales service and care. All that Regal are doing is shouting about what all reputable agents/dealers are supposed to offer anyway by law.

....Generally true but not necessarily. I'm very lucky to say that my VW dealer will always do what they can to help. Obviously they won't take responsibility for a third party's work but will willingly work on it if asked - It's good business.

I'm afraid Brian is right. After the 5 hours expire the modified map doesn't completely disappear. You're left with a locked out REVO version of a standard map. Any competent tuner can spot this and reflash to stock without problems though. There's nothing untoward in the method, it's just the only way it can be done without compromising their own software. If any problems occur down the line then VW simply reflash anyway. The more competent REVO dealers I've talked to actually make a point of telling their trial customers to return for a proper reflash once the 5 hours are up.

....Ah, thanks for the correction. I knew that it's quite common for people with the Revo Trial not to always complete the 5 hrs and hence inadvertently create something to be rectified. People don't always follow the good advice they are given.

The chaps AA cover was part of his Seat deal so the AA insisted that it be towed to the dealer rather than the tunner which he requested but was denied.
