Have a read seat cupra problem 2.0 T

i feel sorry for the guy with the seat cupra, seems abit harsh.

If mine was leased and Modded, id be abit concered..

....I feel sorry for him too but I wouldn't mod a leased vehicle without first being very sure of the 'small print'. I can see the other point of view (often my problem!).

At the mo my car is on finance too but I intend on paying it back sooner so I can own outright. Hence no mods on the car until then, which'll hopefully be in 10-12 months time.

I've heard of some dealers not twitching when Revo remaps have been mentioned. Is VWUK likely to be in the same boat as SEAT uk? Especially given that they're all part of VAG?

This is also one of the reasons I had against buying a mkv. If I bought a mkiv GTI, I could get it serviced locally for a cheaper rate and still be able to modify it without hassle.

....I bought my car for cash outright, no mucking about, but I still discussed my wish to remap with my VW dealer before doing so. They asked who....I said Revo....and they said no problem. They have absolutely no problems about any of my other mods either - They have even fitted some of them! The only warranty issue they couldn't resolve was the white worm on my 18's and that was only because my car was registered with VW UK with 17's - They tried and I tried direct but we couldn't do anything about it.

Their attitude is that I'm a friendly and very understanding customer who is totally honest with them and they do all they can to support me and they really look after me well. If I published some of the stuff they've done to help me, I might get them into trouble!

VW UK can be very tricky though. The best way is not to rely on warranty income to solve any problems on your car. If you mod your car, think of a successful warranty claim as a bonus. There is one underlying legal principle in your favour and that is that the aftermarket modification has to be a direct cause of an issue; BUT, you pay first and argue to get your money back after!

Whether it's in the contract or not, or whether it's legal or not, I think Seat have done themselves no favours at all with this. For the sake of what could be a very cheap repair, they have now got themselves some nasty publicity over on SCN and got the majority of members backs up IMO..

I've just posted over there. I feel sorry for the OP, but modding a car on finance is a big no no!

SEAT may not be totally to blame as they will most likely take action based upon the finance companies decision on the situation. SEAT's hand may have been forced?

Businesses in the aftermarket industry will be bothered but I'm not sure that car manufacturers will be - It's beyond their commercial interests.

Poor lad. That is really bad of Seat. I can see where they are coming from to an extent, but you would have thought that they would have some f*cking heart!!!!!!

BTW, I have my car modded by Oettinger with 1y warranty. If something happens, I am as foked up as that guy, but I knew what I was doing. This guy also new, but he wanted to have his cake and eat it, too. Sorry, dude, reality is hard.

i well be going stage 2 on my vxr next year through Regal Auto Sport, if they do the work they will give you a warenty on the work they carry out and the normal Vaux one covers the rest of the car. How come Revo dont offer this? 

still feel sorry for the guy, i bet a fair few people mod a car which is on finace as they fully intend to pay for the car in full. I can see that its an issue when something like this happens but he should have gone to the tuner who did the work on his car in the first place, a dealer would never like it unless it had fitted the parts.

I expect revo would get to the bottom of it, but its the finance company that have DEMANDED THEIR car back or pay up the full ammount. Small print really cant bite your ass when it wants to.

Oh, I completely understand the logic behind it, but as mentioned by someone else above, there would have been slightly better/kinder ways to deal with the situation. Yes, i agree though, overall they are completely entitled to do what they have done with the car.
 
I guess sometimes you need luck on your side - which this guy doesn't have in this situation!!!

I think you've got a pretty special dealer there Robin....I've mentioned the whole Revo thing to four separate dealers (also separate ownerships, so e.g. not all from the Windrush chain), and none will give me the time of day about it.

If anyone else knows of a dealer that is OK with Revo, or any remap for that matter, then please do share....because I think its a very very rare thing!!!!!
