Steering wheel cowling

does the steering wheel need to come of to remove the bottom cowling piece ?, or even the top piece for that matter

Have you had a quick look in TT's maintenance section PDF's there are quite a few  on the steering perhaps one of them could give info about the cowling.

  Thats why i said have a look, i opened them up and couldn't make head nor tail of them.

No the cowling does come off without wheel removal.

i have found the source of my scraping noise when turning, i found that if i move the cowling a little the noise goes away, so it must be something under there

it may be been lost in the forum crash shaun ,  its really easy to come apart,  there are some workshop manuals on here from T_T.

hmm, i thought some of the bolts you need to remove are behind the wheel ?
