I did drive one, I didn't think they was too fast but then again I don't think the standard golf is that quick, the whole audi just felt 20 % better , engine was still a bit raw though
have you had your ed30 re mapped blue ?

Seeing a great photo of that white ed30, gaz, why on earth did you get a white S3 when that ed30 looks the business!. Im sure you have your reasons mate, if the ed30 had a 4 wheel drive system fitted, would you of still plumped for the an Audi??

That does look mint, but my S3 does to IMO

It was a case of bin there done that, I've had an ED30, so didn't want another. The 4wd deffinately had something to do with it, our roads are wet 80% of the time. As I've said in other threads the S3 will never have that light on its feet, quick turning fun factor the golf has but it is better screwed together and feels more solid,I do think its a step-up, a sort of natural progression. They are expensive probably over-priced, but I thought f@ck it your only here once.
I had the early S3 and really liked it so wanted the new 1, also I couldn't get a brand new ED30 as they had stopped making them and didn't want the pirelli, I had to argue this out with insurance company, they wanted to supply a new pirelli.

Interesting, so did the InsCo completely fund the cost of the S3, or just give the cost of a new Pirelli, and you made up the difference?

I wish , they gave the invoice value I'd paid for the ED30 and I made up the difference

....I think it's Swings vs Roundabouts regarding the GTI/Ed30 vs S3.

ALL reports suggest that the GTI/Ed30 is much more exhilerating to drive. You've got to spend money modding an S3 to lessen that difference it would seem, and the Audi is significantly more expensive to start off with.

Personally, my taste (or lack of it!) finds the stock A3/S3 very bland in appearance. But, as usual, etto etc etc.

P.S.- I would never want a car without DSG / S-tronic - That's for sure!
