He did crash it, but seeing yours candy, gaz had the choice of getting a replacement car of his own choice, im trying to see what made him go with a an A3 , was it because its got the haldex and the ed30 hasnt, was it because it has more power as standard (265). To look at, a white ed30 and a white s3 theres just no contest. Id have a white one at a drop of a hat if at the time i had a choice.

i ve looked at an s3 myself (i posted a thread about it ) only a month or so ago at an audi dealers they only offered me £12k for the ed30 !!!!!  imo the s3 is a great car but not worth any where near £12k more than my ed 30, also the s3 feels slightly better made , i was expecting more performance and a better drive , my ed30 has been remapped i know but just felt more alive than the s3

I would swop the golf for a s3, with right wheels on the s3 looks superb, it's better built and more refined IMO, a natural step up, tbh I would of had one when I got the golf but I don't like getting loans and only had enough cash knocking around for a golf

i thought pretty much like that too but when i got the golf i looked at s3 but with the extra s i wanted cost £30k , its only really the interior that feels better imo with out the recaro upgrade or sat nav its not much better in any case . did you drive one blue ? was you impressed ?

I've driven the S3 and it is a bit too clinical and efficient as standard. The ED30 is much more fun.

Whether or not a remap and some extra bits would change the S3's character to wild from mild, I'm inclined to say yes. I've been a passenger in a remapped one and it was fast and more lively. I've had an A3 TDI DSG before and would have probably gone from that straight to an S3 if the missis hadn't diverted me to a 5dr car first, but then I would have never had the pleasure of the ED30

Quality in the A3 was better than the VW, but you have to balance that up with a lower standard spec and a higher price in the A3 (or in my case 2 extra doors and the availability of DSG).

I did drive one, I didn't think they was too fast but then again I don't think the standard golf is that quick, the whole audi just felt 20 % better , engine was still a bit raw though
