mmmmm got to wonder about the golfs reliabilty sometimes :undecided:

Rich's steering rack failed after 120K which is ok i'm guessing - obviously better if it didn't lol

rhyso is right classic signs of low fluid, if it's a 1.8 turbo then your pump may have failed, up my mates garage last week and he was doing a pump on one and said it's his 3rd one this year so seems a common fault.

And as rhys says Steering racks go for a pass time, mine was firing fluid out from the rubber boot  :shocked:

cor - right twice in the same thread!!  :shocked:

i'm off for a lie down to get over the shock!!  :laugh: :laugh:

Never, ive done over 60k and the worst thing to go wrong was the steering rack - Engine has never missed a beat.

maybe, hope so anyways, big wheels dont help bearings, suspension, steering rack/pump either so i suppiose we have to bear ome repairs due to that :cry:
