r32uk...I am sure most r32 owners wouldn't consider a move to a GTI, however for some it may be an option to stay with the Golf pedigree and reduce their day on day costs?  Surely the running costs of an R32 are not that much higher are they?

Been over to the r32oc site, they are talking quite a bit about the drop in market value of the R32, bet you the bloody stealers will also be using the current climate to give us GTI owners even less of a trade in (Bar Stewards!).  I reckon there will be some excellent bargains to be had out there just now.

At Arnold Clark in Glasgow yesterday I noticed that they were marketing a silver golf GTI with a sticker that said something like "Amazing Fuel economy"...bet you if I took my GTI in to trade against it the spotty sales monkey would say..."we can only give you £Xk for your GTI cos people these days want cars that give better fuel economy"..

I hate dealerships with a passion, they are all robbing barstewards and will take full advantage of this situation to ensure, as usual the poor buyer gets it right up the back door as per usual.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

....Quite a lot of Mk4 R32 owners have swopped to the Mk5 GTI/Ed30.

I would find it difficult... but am not totally against the idea of ed30. But until fuel goes seriously high i dont think I will consider it. The few that have changed from the mkV r32 to gti's will tell you... you just cant beat the sound and feel of the R.

But cars in general are cheap at the mo because they are simply not shifting.

Shes mint Stu,and is a corker and must be playing havoc with your mind whether too or not. Doesnt surprise me with the price they have

given you for yours as it would normally get about £15k private sale so they have to take out VAT  plus other costs to make a deal. Other

factor is they are already selling the car at a loss due to the current model not selling fast and is dead money on their forecourt.

If i had a choice between yours and the R, although yours is as good a condition as the R, id have the R.

They also had an silver edition 30 for £18k 3 weeks ago on their forecourt, Manual gearbox, but looks like theyve sold that one fast.

Did you see the older Black Mk5 R32 they had also??

Incidently if your interested in maybe getting a good spec Black Ed30, my mate Spencer still has his for sale which has been remapped already, 07 for £19k

he is open to offers, im sure he will let it go for 18k or their abouts

Yeah I don't think that there is any question that the R32 is the better car but in the current climate, is it a good car to buy?  I don't think so.
