R32 prices

Sparkzz, tell you what ..I'll swap you my fully loaded (55) GTi for your R32... Is it an 06?

Theres is a chance i need a more "suitable" car for work soon,  and i have no idea what i will do about my R32? Because of the price crash in the car,  paid 24k for it in Feb, and was only offered 16k in part ex a month ago..  Cant afford 2 cars,  cant afford to sell it/part ex it..  what the hell to do!!

If it's mpg that hurting you, why not drive it like a granny(-ish) and hang on to it until better times.

A few reasons really... main reasons is,  i "hopefully" will have 2 jobs soon,  and will be at one of the companies 2 days a weeks,  problem is they are in totally different directions, and its quite far.  The thought of putting that sort of mileage on the R is making me cringe.  The costs are not too much of an issue but will have to be careful.

Another reason is, its an executive position,  so there will be meetings/lunches etc etc, and i think will be hard fufilling that in the R32.

....You are able to judge it better than me of course, but a big mileage on a VW is never a problem - They'll go on easily for 250,000 miles if regularly serviced and well looked after. Regarding 'image' (your "executive position" comment), the Mk5 R32 is a smart car and reflects a bit more character in its owner than something more common. Socially, you can turn up in a GTI/R32 anywhere and be accepted. Just my opinion and I'm not in your shoes!

I agree with Robin, when I changed jobs at the start of the year into an executive position with a well known retail company, I changed my car shortly afterwards to an Edition 30, I certainly don't see or nor I feel this is looked upon in a bad way. I think if you where driving something like a scooby with an ultra loud exhaust then it might be a different story.

Also I now travel around 3500 miles a month in mine and have no worries about putting these kind of miles on a Golf.

IMO if the running cost etc isn't an issue and you enjoy your car I would stick with it in the current market.

I do try to split the milage between mine and the GF's Polo 1.4 80bhp, but in the morning when I step out of the front door the ED30 wins about 99 times out of 100 (especially since I have had mine remapped).

You should have seen my fuel and servicing bill in my previous car (X5 Sport)

....Why? If it's a car which gives you pleasure, so what if it costs you money? All cars cost you money - Never a financial investment unless you buy a vintage classic or a car with provenance, and then only if you buy it at the right time in its life.

It does look nice, but im sure the cost of running the R, is only gonna get worse.

My silver GTi was on that Podium before the blue one thats been sat there ever since! , and that was 3 months ago!!!.

I will have agree with you outright there RR!! A car will never appreciate in value.. regardless of what you think. The R is really not that much more than the gti to run... its just down to the way you drive it. Infact I would go as far to say that if your not the type of driver who like to press their car.. then the R32 is going to be just as economical as the gti/ed30.

Resisting the v6 is another storey tho
