.....With the 8 valve the back end over took me round a corner and i flipped afer hitting a back..
I'm guessing you went into the corner too fast, lifted off the throttle mid-corner, then possibly braked?
If you took the same corner the same way even with a trick suspension and bush setup, you'd probably still come off the road.
I want to be able to drive my 16v enthusiastically, but only when im happy with it. Could the shocks be worn and old that they just arent giving the back end he grip it needs...??

Get your braking done earlier, then you'll be
on the throttle mid-corner, not off it.
