vaccume hose

i am changing all the vac hoses to silicone ones, is it 3mm hose i need?, will 2metres be enough, also where can i get the little clips that hold them on

go on ebay and search 3mm ID vacuum hose - guy sells 3 meters for £12.99 delivered I think.

You don't need the connectors they just push on tight, 2 meters would do it, the longest goes up to the ECU, I can show you a pic if needed

cheers, got some today, can't get the scuttle panel off now :angry: one of the screws is all chewed up the others just seem to turn but not unloosen :angry:

get some pliers and rip the things out when you've unscrewed them a bit, they won't break..

Make sure you replace all three vac hoses too

Hi Pete, i have changed one of them so far, will do the others tomorrow when i can get the panel off....is one of them only about 2.5"long? and connected onto a thin plastic pipe?

yeah and be really careful when taking it off of the crank case pressure control valve which is the black box coming off the manifold. I snapped the little nipple that the vac hose goes onto and VW wanted £60 for a new valve so I had to glue it back on which was fiddly and took me 3 goes to get it strong enough - think they jut go brittle over time..

this pic shows the two smaller one's, the 3rd goes from the throttle body upto the ECU - have fun getting the scuttle panel off  :drool:

how many of the annoying have you got off so far? all I did was unscrew them for a bit then grab them with grips and violently tug and twist whilst pulling away and they just come out.... b*llsh!t design really.... you wait till your trying to get it back in place   :laugh:
