£295 pm   +vat which gets put through my business anyway! A £28k car for only £350pm If you go ask your local dealership for how much they want to charge you for the R32 over a 2yr period dont be suprised to hear a quote of £500+

Not too bad.  Which company is that with?  I have a few mates who are after a scheme like that.

Its no longer available, but was through VW Wakefield. They have set up their own net based company to which you can find the link on this page

R32uk, i really dont understand why you pay so much money for something that in reality isnt yours at any stage????
surely your the one thats wasting money?????
A car is just that.. in the end its always going to depreciate! If you havent worked out the "real cost" of ownership of your cars then you may be in for a shock when you take your year old car back into the dealership and he offers you 5k less than what you paid.

Have also read that used car market (like the rest of the economy) are going to take a real hit over the next couple of years. If like me you leased your car.... I just give it back after 2yrs :smug: No final payments or worrying about how hard its been driven for 2yrs.. just hand back the keys and go shopping for a new one!
HERE! HERE! COUDNT PUT IT BETTER MYSELF.

Why would you want to own something that depreciates?? Plus i find the folowing benifits also help:-

My R32 cost me less than most pay for their GTi's.
I get a brand new car every 2 years.
I dont put down any deposit. (no money tied up in my car)
I dont have to worry about residuals. (MK VI or no MK VI)
I give the car back to VW regardless of how hard/softly its been driven.
I dont pay road tax.
I dont pay for any roadside cover as i get it from VW.
Probably wont even need a new set of tires over the 2 years.

Its simple hassle free motoring, without having to worry about any unexpected maintenance costs... and the most important thing is that I kow exactly how much my 2yrs of motoring in my R32 is going to cost me. I would have to be mad to buy a car!! unless a) I was planning on modding b)I was going to keep it for a long time c) I do galactic miles (which I dont).

Its a no brainer

2300 a well maybe Vw will send me a wee number now to comemorate it lol, really couldn't give a sh@t how many they make its a better package all round than the gti, hence why i never bought one when they first came out.I knew the ed30 was worth waiting for as the orig mk5gti didn't live up to my expectations.
If you now your VW's you can spot an ED30 over a gti a mile away(well i can)But Phil's correct you will always come of 2nd best to a dealer as at the end of the day less for you = more for them, its there job they need to earn wether its by hook or by crook so i dont really get offended but I always sell privately as i always get more.
As for the Pirrelli i would buy it over the gti, but yellow stitching hmmm.

I know where your coming from, I really wanted a GTI when I had my MK4 R32, but couldn't get on with the overall looks as it just didn't look finished, with all that black plastic! So the Edition 30 was exactly what I was wishing the GTI was - looks so much nicer when sat next to a standard GTI, and as k4ith says, I can also tell them apart a mile off! (It was the looks that did it for me, the extra power under the bonnet was a bonus!)  By the way not wanting to get involved in another GTI V ED30 thing, just agreeing with what k4ith said! Both top class motors!

Interesting thread here with some interesting opinions. Me personally...maybe i shouldnt say this but i do prefare the GTI rather than the R32. It seems abit more of a "mature" car, not sure if that makes sense or not and the 18" Monza's just finish it off! Unfortunatley for me, the ED30 is not available here in Gibraltar which made me sort of throw myself towards the R32. I wont complain about the R32 though as I havent had a problem with it yet. (Apart from company accountant asking why petrol bills are alot higher than before )

Thats it Russ, bang on.I dont dislike the gti far from it.but when it was 1st realeased the interior plastics were a bit naff until the upgrade a year later.
the black trim outside i dont like either.just wee niggles but enough to stop me buying one at the time.

Well kind of i put a decent amount of cash and the rest is on HP! I,ve never fully owned a car always had a decent chunk of it on tick.I try to buy cars that have good residuals( gti  r32  m3 etc) so i have never ever owed more than any of my cars are worth,so a trade in time i always have "positive equity" if that makes sense.I put that down on my next purchase get h.p and off i go again!
At the end of the day if you want the nice things in life, and i,m guessing we all do, you have to pay for them.

My favorite saying is" YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE" go for it your a long time dead and you cant take your cash with you, spend it and enjoy on what ever floats your boat and in my case thats "CARS"

Surely what VW have done is illegal? I'm not a lawyer but you can't just go around claiming that your product is limited when it isn't... The main reason I bought my Ed30 was the (relative) exclusitivity of it.  Otherwise I'd have kept my R32.  I am fuming at the moment and the least that will come out of this is that I will never buy a new VW again even though I am a huge fan.
