Surely what VW have done is illegal? I'm not a lawyer but you can't just go around claiming that your product is limited when it isn't... The main reason I bought my Ed30 was the (relative) exclusitivity of it.  Otherwise I'd have kept my R32.  I am fuming at the moment and the least that will come out of this is that I will never buy a new VW again even though I am a huge fan.

....I don't think that VW ever formally claimed the Edition 30 was a limited edition, but just an edition to celebrate 30 years.

If you are "a huge fan" of VW, why cut off your nose to spite your face by never buying another VW?

....In the extremely unlikely even that this came to court I expect that the lawyers would claim it was a proof reading error and probably blame the agency which produced the brochure. Also, the judge would surely take into account what actual real harm was caused in any event and throw it out of court (quite rightly!) - You'd be wasting a court's time.

This is a petty issue imo. Why not enjoy what you've got instead of what you think you haven't got.

VW have admitted they were wrong and ED30 production has stopped, that says it all for me.

Exactly.  I really can't see how VW can 'mistakenly' overrun on production.  Its inexcusable and they are just taking loyal customers for granted.   As for the proof reading theory, well, I didn't see VW falling over themselves to correct this mistake at the time.  The fact is that the Ed30 sold very well and VW were motivated by greed and simply ignored their own quota.

Also, I said i'd never buy a new VW... I'm sorry but I'll be very sceptical about any similar claims VW make in the future.  However, I left the door open for a used VW - can't deny myself the pleasure of owning another Mk2

....Yep, I like the wheels too. I'm not sure about the tyre tread seats but it certainly looks better in metallic black than that yuk yellow imo.

Best colour of course.

Interesting thread developing here - VW exploitation and/or maximising run out sales potential before the Mk VI comes along. RR has a made a valid point about enjoying what you have but if I'd bought a Ed30 on the back of the adverising hype, I wouldn't be happy. Good marketing or just a sales pitch rip off.

Blame the Yanks - sue everyone for everything
