R32uk, i really dont understand why you pay so much money for something that in reality isnt yours at any stage????
surely your the one thats wasting money?????
A car is just that.. in the end its always going to depreciate! If you havent worked out the "real cost" of ownership of your cars then you may be in for a shock when you take your year old car back into the dealership and he offers you 5k less than what you paid.

Have also read that used car market (like the rest of the economy) are going to take a real hit over the next couple of years. If like me you leased your car.... I just give it back after 2yrs :smug: No final payments or worrying about how hard its been driven for 2yrs.. just hand back the keys and go shopping for a new one!

2300 a well maybe Vw will send me a wee number now to comemorate it lol, really couldn't give a sh@t how many they make its a better package all round than the gti, hence why i never bought one when they first came out.I knew the ed30 was worth waiting for as the orig mk5gti didn't live up to my expectations.
If you now your VW's you can spot an ED30 over a gti a mile away(well i can)But Phil's correct you will always come of 2nd best to a dealer as at the end of the day less for you = more for them, its there job they need to earn wether its by hook or by crook so i dont really get offended but I always sell privately as i always get more.
As for the Pirrelli i would buy it over the gti, but yellow stitching hmmm.

If the GTI was such a disappointment, why do you love the ED30 so much?  They are essentially the same thing.

Regarding spotting the ED30 over a GTI from a mile away, you must have some incredible eyes.  But in my opinion, the Monza II's on the GTI give it a real edge over the ED30 & R32 in terms of looks.

so why is it ive bought and sold back 2 vw's , 1x passat sport and 1x Mk5 GTi and a higher resale price then whats book price. Could be a rare good dealer or an honest one, or are you one of the dishonest dealers. PLease check glasses guide online and it asked for factory extra's fitted. Sorry vw sales, your like the rest of the car dealers, rip off merchants, My local vw dealer has sold both my cars on both making at least 2 grand on each sale but also giving me more then book price.
So your saying, sorry mate, ill give you £14500, cus its on 05, then cus its loaded with extra's put on the forecourt after he's gone for £18995.Or would you please tell us why some GTi's are worth £2000 more of the same age on a second hand forecourt. "yeah this one has sat nav and Leather and xenons" and "yea this ones hasnt got any of those " hense the price increase.
Im glad im not local to your dealership if thats how you operate, i bet you loose loads of possible bussiness.

Sorry mate, missed this, but i'll answer if i can.

Remember i dont make the rules i just follw them.

Basiclly ever car has a trade value, weather it be £ 500 quid or £ 15000, its value is its value, regardless of options.

If you buy a new polo for instance you could get £ 300 discount, so You now get £ 800 trade in price, Your car has not altered, some dont ask for discount, they just accept the £ 500 quid and say thanks.

Now if you buy a high end car you might get up to £ 2000 off, but still the value of your car does not change they lump it together offer you £ 17000 and most, not all but most people think, i paid £ 21000, they have offered me £ 17000, where do i sign.

My advise, always , always , always, always, sell your car privatly, before you go to the dealer, you will save loads.

I too like the monza more over the pescara's

If it was put this way then. Normal GTi was the same look as edition 30 and was 1st released out of the two models, had body coloured bumpers, half leather  etc etc, forget the extra hp bit because that really is imaterial tbh.Pescara's,
And then the ED 30 comes along with 18 Monza II alloys, Full leather , black trim to set the two models apart, ok has same 230 hp engine.Which one would you go for???????
I think the current standard model would get the Most plawdits.

Thats the only thing imo the ed30 is better currently because it has more HP, and gets more attention.  But before the insults fly, i love both cars and wouldnt turn down either if offered with decent spec.

Im not one for chipping and geting the car to do silly speeds. i prefer the way it looks more.   anyone else have any thoughts?

Why would you want to own something that depreciates?? Plus i find the folowing benifits also help:-

My R32 cost me less than most pay for their GTi's.
I get a brand new car every 2 years.
I dont put down any deposit. (no money tied up in my car)
I dont have to worry about residuals. (MK VI or no MK VI)
I give the car back to VW regardless of how hard/softly its been driven.
I dont pay road tax.
I dont pay for any roadside cover as i get it from VW.
Probably wont even need a new set of tires over the 2 years.

Its simple hassle free motoring, without having to worry about any unexpected maintenance costs... and the most important thing is that I kow exactly how much my 2yrs of motoring in my R32 is going to cost me. I would have to be mad to buy a car!! unless a) I was planning on modding b)I was going to keep it for a long time c) I do galactic miles (which I dont).

Its a no brainer

Not that I'd ever do what you are doing but I can see why some people do it (although a lot of people prefer to lease something much more prestigious than a Golf!).

It's like renting at the end of the day.  It's dead money, but it's hassle free.

Out of interest, how much do you pay per month?

Not too bad.  Which company is that with?  I have a few mates who are after a scheme like that.
