What is this sensor?

As you can see from the pics the sensor is knackered.  Anyone tell me what its called?  thanks.  Its located below the 2nd spark plug.

Stick the wirer vertical but i don't think its to critical, IT does need to be torqued to the correct level, 20 nm from memory.

hmm i didnt know that either, better get me wrench out, stick straight and torque him up (i'll check the haynes first tho )..god engines have soo many things that need to be right!

try the breakers or ebay for one in mint condition i.e. no breaks on the wiring or its insulation

one from a passat will do, but the lead is shorter (makes no difference)

dealers want £50+ for them (i checked last month)

i just got one in mint condition off ebay for 99p

Aye, if its to tight it will be too sensetive and retard the timing, check the advance at 2500 revs, if it advances to +30 then its ok
