Upgrading washer jets - I want more power!
« on: 29 March 2008, 10:21 »
After driving my sisters Beetle for the past few months I have grown accustom to washer jets that actually do something. I've tried searching for ages, but without much luck.

What jets are a direct replacement, and the same rule applies for the motor.

It won't increase the power of your jets, but I recommend some non-return valves from Halfords

I put some extra jets on mine, they fit in the bonnet vents, with a little bit of silicone, and are thus easily removable if you ever change your mind. You just need to get two extra jets, and some extra splitters from the scrap yard.

Can get some more info if you need it?

I always thought that would help, but i've tried it and it didnt help! Might have been a cheapo valve, but it did come from a Volvo...

They come heated as said from GTI's or MK3 golfs, in fact, not sure if oter models other than GTI's came with them probably GL's as well, someone will clarify..?

As for connecting them, they slot in the vent, with a little silicone (which can be removed if you change your mind) then you just get some extra hose and plug in the t-pieces

Well mine were pennies from Halfords but seemed to work ok!  Seemed to work better on the fronts than the rears though.

Non-return valves stop the water running back down the pipework, so the pump doesn't need to push it all the way up to the jets before it comes out again.

How about trying a pair of T4 jets like these:

They're like Passat B5 jets - they have a fan pattern, rather than a single jet.

There are also SAAB jets, which have three jets.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
