I'll add my tuppence...
The Stig is Ben Collins. When "Team Top Gear" ran that BMW 3 Series in the 24 Hour race at Silverstone last year the organising club would not let them register the 4th driver as The Stig and the results were published as "Team Top Gear" drivers J Clarkson/R Hammond/J May/B Collins and reported in Autosport the following week.
As for roads, three spring to mind
1. The A686 from Penrith to the Haydon on the A69 to the west of Hexham - great in either direction but I prefer it from Penrith. The climb from there to the cafe at the top of the hill is great fun. Just be careful, the Cumbria Police Headquarters is on this road just outside of Penrith.
2. The B6255 between Ingleton and Hawes past Ribblehead. 15 miles, once leaving Ingleton the first 4 miles are fast and straight once past Ribblehead there are more fast open stretches as well as some slower sections. It's not the best surfaced and the weather can be a challenge.
3. Finally, the B1363/A170/B1257 from York to Stokesley via Helmsley. Great road, great scenery... just overpoulated with bikers these days (and as a result, police)...
Cheers,
Corgi.
