You can make faster progress with uprated shocks and springs on most crappy surface B roads than in a low stiff car with coils. Going too low on a daily is silly. (Which is why some people do it I guess )

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

You thought about running stretched tyres with that set up, Nick?

Well I did, but I realised if I went down that route I'd have to buy some skinny jeans and get an emover hair cut and a bonet bra.

Nick

Im off to get some skinny jeans then  :smug:

This is why I avoid lowering my cars at all costs.  The G2 Syncro I have is at the ride height it is so that it handles.  That means sucks bumps up and will suffer vicious compressions when pushing on without bottoming or topping out.  If you want to drive fast in the UK you need supple suspension, not a 'slammed' car.  Yes, it may handle 'like a go-kart', but that means they'll be bounced off line and you'll spend way too much time belting the bumpstops.

My last two golfs have been left standard in the suspension dept, and i admit ultimately they lack the body control of those i have slammed......................but there is no way on earth a slammed golf can keep up in real world driving on give and take roads, and that for me is enough reason to leave it be.  The most i have bothered with on my previous but one car was stiffer dampers just to help it a bit.  Whats the point of a fast car if you cant use it??

i am ready to be slated you may begin ha ha

Body control means that the wheels stay on the road without the car bouncing all over the place.  Any bounciness is normally the result of tired dampers.  The body control of a well set up Golf2 on relatively fresh dampers and mounts at close-to standard ride height should be exemplary - it's one of the reasons the car is so feted.

You're confusing body control with a firm ride.

Slammed cars aren't driver's cars, or comfortable.

As far as I can make out people start moaning when they slam their cars.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

It was a proud day when a mate was following me and said i had sparks coming off the underside of my jetta when going over some bumps quickly lol!

just makes me laugh when you get a mid-aged old cow behind you going mental cos i slow down for every speed bum and crawl over it so save my sump.

thats the reason they use speed bumps, im just making them useful!

some round here i have the straddle otherwise sump scraping is inevitable, and i dont think my car is even that low!
