Going having a look at a bonnet and slam panal tomoz so hopefully should get them.

I started stripping the front end down today and found some strang things...it looks like someone has been here before, theres washers under one side and looks like someone has welded on washers on the other, very weird!! is this normal? :undecided:

Anyway got the front end stripped, i may even go over the chassie legs with a bit of paint..

well after a long hard weeks graft its starting to look like my car again!!

This is how my front slam panel turned out. Not a bad effort with halfords cans!!

and fitted onto the car, i must say the old slam panel was way off!! this lines up so perfect!!!

i even went for a cheeky blip around the estate, ha got some funny looks!!!

i also sorted out an oil leak which turned out to be a dodgy gasket!! so tomorrow jobs include fitting the headlights, and wireing them up along with the bonnet catch and sourcing a new bonnet!!!

Today i managed to source an original early 7 slot grill for £5, yep a fiver!!!

I am going to be spraying the edge of it making it into a GTI style one as i dont think you can get an early one with the red stripe? also spraying the grill spoiler(bottom part) red to match the car.

Also polished the lower bonnet catch and fitted it today

Still in need of a new bonnet, in tornado red if anyone has one pm me!!!

pics to follow

How did you get in here?? thanks mate!!!

test fitted the grill today and i think it looks quite good, its not fitted in this fit just "resting". I later fiited it and i couldnt belive how well it fitted!! My old old front end was a right mess!!! the old grills never fitted propper and alsways stuck out at one end...

I still ned to adjust the front bumper as it sags on the n/s but that can wait for another day

quite pleased with myself...
