i was wondering the best way to run a amp wiring kit through a mk 3 gti.is there a hole for the power wire to go through the bulk head and the best place to earth in the boot, also do most people run the wires down the under the kick strips? any advic e would be mostly apretiated as im thinking of puting my sub and amp in at the week end.

There is usually a gromit in the bulkhead where you can run the power through. not sure where though.  If there isnt, drill your own. make sure you seal it properly if you do.

running power cables under the strips is fine though you should seperate power cables from RCA leads as this can cause interferance.

if you have a beasty system you should tap your own earth point to the cars body, otherwise there is usually one near the rear lights you could share. If you do make your own earth make sure you give the area a good sand down to make a good contact.

Hope that helps

there is a big grommet just above the passenger footwell which you can get plenty of cable through (i currently have 2 runs 0awg and 1 4awg)

then it all fits behind the trim and under sill.

earthing can be done to the bolt that holds rear seats in or you could run another length of cable back to battery ;)

i wouldnt run it back to the battery because it will effect the performance of your sub, try to get it as close to the amp as possible. electrically sounder this way :)

the only affect it will have on performance is actualy improve voltage which in turn is better for the amp ;) power passes through cable better than it does body panels.

the only down side is you might get ground loop noise from the hu but i never have.

i think your confused buddy. the negative on the battery is earthed to the chassis, so runnning a cable back to the battery is a complete waste of time and money. creating a good earth near the amp is how its done in show cars

and in competition cars they earth back to the battery all of the uk`s loudest cars run cable to and from the battery as that's how you get the least voltage drop.

if you honestly think that your cars chassis/panels will carry power better than cable then you are seriously deluded

i know for a fact from when testing mine that i gained over half a volt just by earthing directly back to the battery over earthing through the body.
