correct oil temp?
« on: 02 April 2004, 10:39 »
when warm, my 16v goes between 92 and 104 depending on how hard I'm beating her... ;)

is this normal? is 104 too high? if so is there anything you can do to flush / clean the system and oil cooler? is the oil cooler easy to take off and replace?

I've got a Rivage cab on a J plate so it is mk1 shape but it is the same era as the mk2 and in the handbook it says that the MFA displays temps from 50c - 160c, it also says that if the temp is 145c then you should slow the engine speed down so I guess 104c is normal and well within its limit.

As an aside, don't be beating her until the engine temp is 50c, apologies if you already know this  :)

No worries, maybe I'm not waiting long enough before I start whipping mine, waiting 5 minutes for it to get to 50c is hard enough ! Vrrrrooommmm :D

There's not an exact running temp, it's a range, so normal running temp in the handbook will say something like 80c - 120c as normal.
