Washer fluid warning light
« on: 12 February 2008, 15:06 »
Ive noticed that I've been running out of window washer fluid, but haven't had a light on the dash to tell me I'm getting low. Whereabouts is the sensor for this, or is there a fuse which may have gone?

My oil light did come on the other day telling me to top up, and everything else appears to be working fine. It's just a pain, especially in these wintery conditions with all the crud on the road at the moment.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers guys!

i assume its worked before?

sensor is located on the bottle itself; if you have a look there should be a hole at the bottom where the fluid comes out; think the sensor is located within that.

I don't think its worked since I've had the car (Since July last year).

I'll check to see if there's a loose connection or something later on.

I dont have the winter pack - But like Rhyso I have the heated wing mirrors.

I thought a washer fluid low level warning light was pretty standard myseel. Had it in my old Escort and most other cars I've had. I'd be surprised if I dont have one!!! considering I have most over things!

Mine is a base model and when I put the new clocks with the trip on it came up when the fluid was low so there is defo a sensor there as standard
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

i thought the fluid warning was part of the winter pack, the heated mirrors were standard on the GT TDI's and the 1.8T's i think you had to pay extra on the 2.0 GTI's though

think it will be cheaper to buy a whole new bottle from the main stealers, i think someone has on here before and it was only £28 i think? :undecided:
I must warn you I'm about as decisive as a 5 yr old in a sweet shop!!

should be less; i've been quoted £18 for the larger 5.5L bottle; think the small one is £10, nit sure how much the sensor part is
